Brief Description of Project

SIF has successfully implemented a 5 year IT in Education project in Bhutan to enhance the capacity of the teacher's training college to implement IT education. Building on this project, we are launching a pilot project with 5 project schools to train selected teachers to integrate ICT into their classroom teaching. These project schools will also be linked to sister schools in Singapore for online collaboration.

Brief Job Description

SIF is looking for a dynamic individual to volunteer for the position of a master trainer for the 5 project schools. The volunteer will be based in the Ministry of Education, Bhutan. The work will involve organising regular workshops for the selected teachers in the project schools to acquire the skills and knowledge of integrating IT resources into classroom learning. In between workshops, the volunteer moves among the project schools to work with individual teachers to assist and encourage them to develop IT-integrated lesson plans and e-resources to be implemented in the classes. The volunteer will be working very closely with his/her counterpart(s) at the Ministry of Education, Bhutan to jointly develop a coherent IT-integrated curriculum.

Selection Criteria

  1. must have at least 3 years of teaching experience
  2. holds the position of subject coordinator or have strong coordinating skills
  3. proven track record of integrating ICT into classroom curriculum
  4. involved in ICT initiatives in school
  5. dynamic
  6. strong mentoring skills

English Language Teachers (2 available positions)

Location: Hanoi, Vietnam

Type of SVO Project: In-Field

Host Agency: National Economics University or University of Labour and Social Affairs in Hanoi, Vietnam

Duration: 6-12 months

Description of Assignment:

The volunteer will work with the host agency to:

  • Teach basic English to undergraduates;
  • Work alongside counterpart English language teachers in reviewing and improving the English language syllabus and teaching materials;
  • Help set up an English club for undergraduates; the club will be a creative and interactive platform for students to practice the English language.

 

Other Requirements:

For this assignment, the volunteer should have:

·         A basic Degree;

·         At least 5 years of teaching experience in English Language;

·         Experience in working with adult learners and managing English Language training would be preferred.
