Metro for Children

This Christmas, help us make a difference to the lives of special needs children in Vietnam...

Just go on down to Metro stores at Paragon Shopping Centre, Causeway Point and Compass Point from 1-24 December, and participate in the exciting in-store fund-raising activities!

Shoppers who donate a minimum of S$2 will receive a booklet of Metro discount coupons offering savings of more than S$300, as well as an artistically designed, environmentally-friendly wooden pencil. In addition, for just S$5, shoppers can have their picture taken with a six-feet tall Santa at the central atrium in Paragon Shopping Centre. Balloon sculpting by Pioneer Junior College (PJC) students will also be carried out on weekends.

Funds raised will go towards enabling SIF to send a team of skilled volunteers to help enhance the skills and knowledge of special education lecturers and trainee teachers at the National College of Education in Vietnam, so that they will be able to provide better diagnostic and treatment services to some 260,000 children across the country suffering from some form of intellectual disability.

Launched by Metro Pte Ltd in 2001, the Metro for Children charity is an annual fundraising initiative that aims to help children from needy communities in the region, by supporting Singapore volunteers in conducting skills training and/or community service projects. Since its inception, the charity has raised closed to S$1 million for projects benefitting children in Cambodia, Laos, India, Myanmar & Vietnam. Metro for Children charity is a collaborative effort by Metro Pte Ltd, the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) and Pioneer Junior College (PJC).
