About IVCO 2010

The annual International Volunteer Cooperation Organisations (IVCO) conference sees heads of IVCOs and delegates from agencies across the world gather to discuss key contemporary issues in international volunteering and development, and share good practices in a supportive environment.

This year's conference will be held for the first time in Singapore and is organised by the International FORUM on Development Service (FORUM) and the Singapore International Foundation (SIF).

The theme for IVCO 2010 is "Innovations and Challenges in International Volunteerism and Development – An Asian Perspective". There are two sub-themes centred on emerging issues in international volunteerism, specifically innovative approaches to addressing (i) youth development and (ii) climate change.

International industry practitioners and thought leaders will present their experiences and learning, highlighting innovative ideas and good practices in each area of volunteerism and international development. For the first time, we will also introduce new research findings on strategic volunteering perspectives and good practices from Asia.

Keynote speakers:

  • Amb Ong Keng Yong, Director, Institute of Policy Studies, National University of Singapore
  • Ms Therese Mills, Assistant Director General, Community Partnerships and Latin American Branch, Sustainable Development and Partnerships Division, AusAID, Australia
  • Ms Ashraf Patel, Co-Founder and Director, Pravah Learning Voyages
