Arts for Good
Unseen Shift LAB KL
15 - 22 December 2015 | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
18 March - 17 April 2016 | Singapore
The SIF partnered Alecia Neo from Singapore and Toccata Studio and theatrethreesixty from Malaysia, as well as the Malaysian community to hold Unseen: Shift Lab KL, a series of arts-based workshops with the visually-impaired community in December 2015. Singaporean and Malaysian artists taught visually-impaired youth from Dialogue in the Dark Malaysia (DIDMY) various art skills, including photography, sound and movement, storytelling, and sound visualisation, as a means to uplift their lives and improve their self-expression. These workshops were part of Titian Budaya, a showcase of creative talents of Singapore and Malaysia and the artistic vitality of their collaborations across a wide spectrum of art forms over three months.
The collaborative process was documented and presented as part of Unseen: Constellations, an exhibition at Objectifs from 18 March to 17 April 2016.
The SIF’s Arts for Good initiative seeks to contribute to positive social change through collaborations between Singaporean artists and their international counterparts, as well as galvanise greater community involvement in sustainable change.
