The Words on Wheels (WOW) programme seeks to promote learning among children and youths in local communities. We create convenient access to books and the internet via a mobile library equipped with technology that offers opportunities for participation in educational activities. We also deliver culture-based and art-based virtual workshops to students to
encourage experiential learning.

The programme supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all. The programme also enables Singapore International Volunteers and international communities to forge cross-border friendships through knowledge-sharing and cultural exchanges.

WOW Yogyakarta

The WOW mobile library travels four times a week, visiting 10 schools in Yogyakarta on a rotational basis, reaching out to about 5,000 students every year. WOW Yogyakarta also helps each participating school with the refurbishment of their libraries and computer labs to create a more conducive learning environment for students.

WOW Ho Chi Minh

Following the success of Phase 1, the second phase of WOW Ho Chi Minh benefits young children and students from District 2 and District 8 in the city. We have continued to reach out to them through our mobile library services and English Language and IT workshops and assisted in refurbishing the library and computer lab facilities of new participating schools.

While our WOW mobile libraries are still active, please be informed there will not be any resumption of overseas volunteer trips at the moment
