PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY IF YOU WISH TO ACCESS THE SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION (OR SIF) WEBSITE (“THE SITE”).  UPON ACCESSING THE SITE, YOU AGREE TO THE PRIVACY POLICY HEREIN.

PRIVACY POLICY

Collection of Your Personal Information

1. We collect personal information in the following ways:

  • When a user registers an account to become a SIF WEBSITE member (“Member”), such as your name, e-mail, country, location, occupation and a password. See below, Registration.
  • When users update their profiles with further information about themselves. See below, Profile Information.
  • Using cookies and other technologies to recognise users, customise their experience, and serve targeted messages and advertisements. See below, Cookies.
  • When we automatically receive from a user’s Internet use such information as his/her IP address, the URLs of sites from which he/she arrives or leaves the SIF WEBSITE, his/her type of browser and his/her ISP. See below, Log files.

2. Registration: In order to become an SIF WEBSITE Member, users must first create an account on the website to become a Registered User. To create an account, users are required to provide requested contact information, which the user must recognise and expressly acknowledge is personal information and allow others, including SIF, to identify them.

3. Profile Information: When a user becomes a Registered User, they may provide additional information in the Profile section describing their interests, professional experiences and networking objectives. Providing additional information beyond what is required at registration to become a Registered User is entirely optional, but enables them to better identify themselves and find proper context in the SIF WEBSITE community to connect with like-minded individuals.

4. Cookies: Like most websites, SIF WEBSITE uses cookies and web log files to track site usage. A cookie is a data file which resides on your computer which allows SIF WEBSITE to recognise a user when they return to the SIF WEBSITE using the same computer and web browser. If a user’s browser settings do not allow cookies, they will not be able to use certain elements of the SIF WEBSITE including but not limited to:

  • Registration and accessing their profile pages
  • Posting comments on articles and forum threads

5. Log files: Due to the communications standards on the Internet, when a user visits the SIF WEBSITE, we automatically receive the URL of the site from which the users came and the site to which they are headed when they exit SIF WEBSITE. We also receive the Internet protocol (IP) address of the user's computer (or the proxy server the user used to access the World Wide Web), the type of web browser the user used, browsing patterns, as well as the name of a user’s Internet Service Provider (ISP). This information is used to analyse overall trends to help SIF improve the SIF WEBSITE service. The linkage between a user’s IP address and his/her personally identifiable information is not shared with third parties except when required by law.

The SIF WEBSITE SERVICE IS hosted in Singapore.

Use of Your Personal Information

1. We employ users’ personal information in the following ways:

  • To allow users to administer their accounts with us and customise the service we provide to them.
  • To send users newsletters, community alerts or promotional communications through emails and notices on the SIF WEBSITE.

Managing Your Personal Information

1. ONLY Registered Users members will be permitted to do the following within the SIF WEBSITE website including:

  • Review, enhance or edit their personal information through their personal profile page.
  • Choose what information to make available through their public profile.
  • Change their settings to control visibility and accessibility through the SIF WEBSITE.
  • Instruct SIF administrators to close their SIF WEBSITE account.
  • Instruct SIF administrators to reset account passwords on their behalf.

How We Protect User Data

SIF will take reasonable steps to ensure that Registered Users’ personal data are protected from unauthorised access.

Access to users’ data is password protected. Thus, no other party, except SIF authorised staff, can change the information. However, users must remember to log off from their account and close the browser window after use so that no unauthorised party can have access. Users must not, at any time, divulge their passwords (or other sensitive user information), and use best efforts not to disclose their passwords to any third party.

All information gathered by SIF is stored in systems that may only be accessed by authorised staff of SIF using assigned user IDs and passwords.
