CHAIRITY, Arts and Design Against Cancer

The SIF supported Singaporean producer Imis Iskandar to organise the 2016 edition of CHAIRITY: Art and Design Against Cancer. The exhibition brought together some 50 Indonesian and Singaporean artists to design 54 chairs to express their experiences with cancer.
The project promoted awareness about cancer by exhibiting the finished chairs at Plaza Indonesia in Jakarta in April 2016. The chairs were then auctioned off at the CHAIRITY gala dinner, raising some $830,000 for the Indonesian Cancer Foundation (Jakarta Division) and the Indonesian Children Oncology Foundation.
The SIF’s Arts for Good initiative seeks to contribute to positive social change through collaborations between Singaporean artists and their international counterparts, as well as galvanise greater community involvement in sustainable change.
