Our Programmes
Launched in Nov 2002, The International Student Community was a virtual hub where international students in Singapore could interact with each other and with local students to share their experiences, find support, and learn from each other, creating a global student community online.
The aim of the programme was to help international students adjust well to living in Singapore, and enrich their stay here with friendships, good memories and positive impressions. At the same time SIF wanted to encourage Singaporean students to broaden their own appreciation of other cultures. SIF therefore partnered with student groups, community organisations and tertiary institutions to organise activities to create bridges between visiting and local students.
While isc@SIF enabled virtual interaction, members were also invited to spend real time with local students and community groups to experience Singapore food, social life, and our many festivals and cultures. Other activities organised under isc@SIF included an evening cruise, and large workshops where students from the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and the polytechnics learnt basic skills and knowledge in inter-cultural communications.
