Our Programmes
Each year, four YBAs from Shanghai are appointed and spend 10 weeks in Singapore for a work stint. One very important factor for the success of the programme has been the support and participation of local organisations in hosting our China participants. Previous host companies include DBS, UOB, Shook Lin & Bok LLP, OCBC, Singapore Airlines Ltd, SIM University, CapitaLand Ltd, Surbana Corporation Pte Ltd and Starhub Ltd among others. (see the full listing of YBA host organisations)
As a host organisation, you can look forward to promoting organisational diversity and providing networking opportunities, while allowing your staff to gain global perspectives and insights on China through working closely with a Chinese colleague. This could also be an opportunity to build ties and strengthen relationships with your Chinese counterparts in a relevant industry. Participating host organisations are not required to make any financial commitment as the YBAs will be provided with return flight, accommodation and a living allowance. Visa and training employment pass arrangements will also be handled by the SIF.
Roles and responsibilities of the host organisation
- Provide a 10-week work placement relevant to the skills, experience and interest of the YBA
- Plan a relevant work plan for the YBA and be committed to the learning experience of the YBA
- Maximise the learning experience and exchange opportunities between the YBA and staff of the organisation
- Take the initiative to expose the YBA to the work culture and different functions of your organisation
If your organisation would like to support the YBA Programme by offering work attachment positions, please contact us at fos@sif.org.sg for more information.
