Partner(s):
National Cancer Centre Singapore, Changi General Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and National Cancer Hospital

Project duration: (2008–2010)

Scope: In October 2008, the SIF began a project to enhance the skills of doctors and nurses in charge of terminally ill cancer patients, through training in psychosocial skills. The Specialist Team guided doctors and nurses through assessing the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of their patients, and understanding how this enables more effective care. The SIF carried out the project’s fourth and final training frame in April 2010, and held a training attachment in Singapore for four trainees in February 2010.

Outcome/highlights: Annually, at least 1,000 terminally ill patients in Hanoi will benefit indirectly from this project.
