SIF International Volunteer Day 2009

On 5 Dec 2009, the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) marked International Volunteer Day with a knowledge sharing session on the topic of “Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare of Children in Asia”.

Four invited speakers discussed challenges faced by children in Asia today – from healthcare, to education to protection from abuse and exploitation. The speakers were:


Dr Cliff Meyers, UNICEF’s Regional Advisor on Education for the East Asia and Pacific region


Ms Margaret Au, former Senior Lecturer, School of Health Sciences, Nanyang Polytechnic & Volunteer Leader for SIF project on Maternal and Child Nutrition in Laos


Ms Ellen Minotti, Director of Social Services of Cambodia

Ms Low Siew Hong, Head, Centre for Professional Qualification, SEED Institute & Volunteer in SIF project on Early Childhood Care and Development in Myanmar
