  1. What is The National Art Gallery, Singapore?

    The National Art Gallery Singapore is a new visual arts institution. It will focus on the display, appreciation, promotion, research and study of Southeast Asian and Singaporean art, as well as host international art exhibitions.   2. Will I be informed if I am not selected for the programme?

    Yes, the SIF will keep you updated on your application status, be it successful or not.

  3. How will my flight arrangements be made?

    You will be required to make your own flight arrangements to Singapore and will be reimbursed for the cost of the air tickets when you arrive in Singapore. You will be required to produce the receipt of your purchase as part of the reimbursement process.

  4. Where will I be staying in Singapore?

    Accommodation is based on two to three persons of the same gender in a fully-furnished unit, where you will have your own bedroom.

  5. If I need a visa, how will this be arranged?

    You may require a visa (valid for 30 days) to Singapore, and application can be done at one of Singapore’s embassies or consulates in your respective countries. You are advised to consult the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority website at www.ica.gov.sg/index.aspx for information about entry visa requirements. The SIF will extend your visa upon your arrival to ensure that you can stay in Singapore for the entire duration of 10 weeks.

  6. What will happen if I fall sick /am injured in Singapore?

    You are strongly encouraged to purchase travel/ health insurance which covers the duration of the attachment. In the event that you should fall sick or get injured, you can seek medical help and thereafter seek reimbursement from your insurance provider.

  7. Must I submit anything at the end of the programme?

    You will be required to submit a short review paper evaluating individual artworks selected by the National Art Gallery Singapore; make a presentation or write an essay on the art history, methodology and local art scene of your country; and complete an attachment report and/or presentation on your experiences in Singapore.

  8. I am a non-Southeast Asian national based in a Southeast Asian country. May I still apply?

    The SIF Art Associates is only open to citizens of the Southeast Asian countries.
