Former SIF Young Business Ambassador receives youth award

Mr Clinton Ang, 35, a former Young Business Ambassador (YBA), has received the country's highest national recognition for youth, the Singapore Youth Award. The award acknowledges young men and women with the drive and commitment to look beyond themselves, to strive for personal excellence, and who by doing so, make meaningful contributions to the quality of life in Singapore.

In 2002, Mr Ang was one of the four YBAs who participated in the Singapore-Australia YBA programme organized by the Singapore International Foundation. He was attached to the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development on an 8-week working stint in Melbourne, Australia.

As the current managing director of Hock Tong Bee Pte Ltd (HTB) - a wine and spirits company started by his grandfather in 1938 - Clinton today manages an operation spanning 16 countries. And the global wine industry has not turned a blind eye to HTB's achievements: Under Mr Ang's leadership, HTB was awarded "Wine Distributor of the Year" award during the World Gourmet Summit earlier this year.

On winning the award, Mr Ang said, "I am indeed honoured to receive the SYA for entre but it is really only the beginning - there is much contribution to be made to the youths of today."
