Timor Leste

Volunteers like Alvan Yap have played a part in helping Timor Leste build its capacity following the country’s independence in 2002.

Hearing impaired himself, Alvan spent a year in Dili teaching hearing-impaired children and developing a curriculum – including a standardised sign language – to help improve education and communication in the community.

Together with volunteer teachers like Alvan, media practitioners, healthcare professionals and students, we have worked with Timorese to make positive changes and improve quality of life for communities there.

There are no vacant projects in Timor Leste, but you can view vacancies in other countries.  If you have any enquiries, you can email us at siv@sif.org.sg.
