Young Social Entrepreneurs
Our Young Social Entrepreneurs (YSE) programme inspires, equips and enables youth of different nationalities to start or scale up their social enterprises in Singapore and beyond.
Since 2010, we have nurtured a network of youth with innovative business ideas focused on social good. Together with established social entrepreneurs, business consultants and investors, we harness the power of ideas, know-how and resources to effect positive change for a better world.

- Mentorship – Gain access to industry experts and professionals for mentorship.
- Study visits – Embark on overseas study visits to gain insights.
- Grants – Develop your social enterprise with up to SGD$ 20,000 in funding!
16 Social Enterprises representing 7 nationalities impressed judges with their business presentations and were shortlisted on Day 4 of the YSE 2016 workshop, held from 16 to 19 March. In the next eight months they will be mentored by leading business consultants and successful entrepreneurs, participate in an overseas study visit, and regroup in October to pitch for funding. Read more about these aspiring changemakers here.
6 teams were awarded a total of S$100,000 at the YSE 2015 Pitching for Change held on 23 October. These teams represent Singapore, Indonesia and India, with social change ideas ranging from empowering local craftsmen to produce fashionable handbags and souvenirs to providing employment and safe transport options for women.
Guests at the event got to learn about all 15 shortlisted teams’ work at the event showcase. We also held an insightful dialogue on “Nurturing Young Leaders on a Better World”, featuring Ms Kuik Shiao-Yin, Nominated Member of Parliament and Co-founder, The Thought Collective and Mr Deny Raharjo, CEO of Kinerja International and Partner of the Business Indonesia Singapore Association. Find out more about the event here.
31 shortlisted participants representing 15 SEs from 6 nationalities participated in a Study Visit to Mumbai, India from 7 to 13 June, followed by an inaugural visit to Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, Malaysia from 4 to 10 September. Read about how they improved their business model through learning sessions and interactions with practitioners and experts within the vibrant social enterprise from the different sectors across borders, here.

The first YSE 2015 group mentorship session by McKinsey & Company was held on 6 June, followed by a second session focusing on mock pitching on 11 September in Singapore. Shortlisted teams shared updates on their achievements and work done so far, learnings, as well as challenges and plans going forward.
