On 4 November 2015, we reconnected with Friends of Singapore at SIF Connects! London. Held at the Singapore High Commission in London, the event was held in conjunction with Singapore’s SG50 celebrations and brought together Britons who had visited and worked in Singapore to discuss “What’s next, Singapore”.

The dialogue built on stories shared by Friends of Singapore about the head, heart and soul of Singapore that were collected in our publication Singapore: Insights from the Inside Vol II, comprising insights on Singapore from our friends’ perspectives.

SIF Connects! London was a celebration of friendships, partnerships and the strengthening of relationships between Singaporean and British communities through art. We launched the London-leg of the Disappearing Moon exhibition in March 2013, featuring individual and collaborative works of Singaporean Genevieve Chua and Briton Emma Critchley which were conceptualised during their respective residences in Singapore and London. Their artist-in-residence exchange or AiRx programme was a collaborative initiative between the SIF and British Council.

Disappearing Moon premiered in Singapore at the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore on 17 January 2013. This edition of SIF Connects! London takes on added significance with the appointment of long-time Friend of Singapore, Mr Chris Davies, as the SIF representative who would partner us in reconnecting and growing the FOS community in the UK.
