Additionally, he was Associate Fellow of The Royal Commonwealth Society.

He secured the first Darrel Chong Gold Award in Malaysia history for his IEEE organisation with his “Code by Wheels” and “iCipta” project movements. Hong Boon was awarded as Runner Up for Queen’s Young Leaders Award from HM Queen Elizabeth II for his outstanding technology educational works in Malaysia.
