SIF Connects! Singapore

Local and international participants of SIF Connects! Singapore embarked on an immersive programme that showcased Singapore’s past, present and future from 30 November to 1 December 2017. Participants visited a mix of historical districts, social enterprises, water conservation sites and residential project, Punggol Eco-Town.

At the end of the two days, many shared that they had acquired new knowledge about Singapore’s arts and cultural heritage, as well as its approaches towards social innovation and urban sustainability.

The biennial event – now in its fourth edition – drew to a successful conclusion at ShiOK! Nite, which was graced by guest-of-honour Mr Baey Yam Keng, Parliamentary Secretary for Culture, Community and Youth.

Among the evening’s highlights were the recognition of 14 individuals comprising Singapore International Volunteers, partners and programme alumni who have long supported the SIF in its efforts to connect, collaborate and effect change in world communities. They were commended through SIF’s annual Long-Service Awards as well as Special Commendation Awards that were being launched for the first time.

Of special mention was The ‘Global Citizen Award’, which was presented to Ms Annie Yeo (Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Asia, Deutsche Bank) for her contributions to SIF across multiple areas, including Water for Life, the Young Social Entrepreneurs Programme and the Arts for Good initiative.

In what truly marked a “ShiOK” evening, participants mingled and networked over a sumptuous buffet of local cuisine while enjoying performances by home-grown artists as well as Friends of Singapore from Thailand and Indonesia.
