Water for Life in Siem Reap, August 2010-201408 Jan 2012
SIF's Water for Life project in Siem Reap provides villagers with convenient access to clean drinking water by installing bio-sand filters in village households within the communes of Dan Run and Dam Dek.
Literacy programmes are also conducted for villagers, in particular to women, on subjects including but not limited to basic reading, writing and arithmetic, hygiene and family health and filter use and maintenance.
In addition, the project also supports the capacity-building of staff at a rural health centre to improve medical services provided to villagers, as well as water quality evaluation and testing at a water laboratory facility to ensure the proper operation of installed filters and quality of drinking water.
This project is managed by the SIF, with sponsorship from Deutsche Bank and Ngee Ann Development Pte Ltd. The project is implemented in partnership with Water for Cambodia and Angkor Hospital for Children.
