From Theory to Practice: Young Social Entrepreneurs’ (YSE) 2018 Jakarta Workshop

The SIF’s YSE Overseas Workshops series held its third Jakarta edition for 48 participants, representing 24 teams across Indonesia.

From 7 to 9 November 2018, participants underwent various workshops, business clinics and sharing sessions. The intensive three-day programme covered a wide range of topics, including financial modelling, legal frameworks for social enterprises and resource management for lean start-ups.

Through the workshop, participants gained access to the international YSE network. They had the opportunity to connect with established social entrepreneurs, industry experts, and fellow YSE alumni from Indonesia, Singapore and the region.

Rebecca Lim, Head of Our Better World, explained how storytelling can be used to create social impact with our young social entrepreneurs.
There’s no better advice than that from real-world experience. Gibran Huzaifah (center, in blazer), CEO of eFishery, shared his experiences with the young Indonesian impact-makers on how he built up his agri-tech social enterprise.
The YSE workshops provide a platform for like-minded youths to meet, exchange their knowledge and expertise, and find opportunities for further collaboration.
What makes a social enterprise attractive to funders and investors? Our panel of speakers got right into sharing tips on getting monetary backing and advised entrepreneurs to stay resilient rather than obsessing over fundraising.
