Water for Life

Water for Life provides rural communities with access to drinking water through the implementation of clean water technology, and enhances their quality of life via improved health and hygiene practices.

The Water for Life project aims to provide access to clean water in rural communities through the installation of bio-sand and membrane water filters as well as tube wells. With easy access to clean water, building of new sanitation facilities and a basic hygiene education programme, tens of thousands of people in these communities experience a reduction in the incidence of water borne diseases and improved hygiene and sanitation conditions. With better health, their livelihood options become more positive, resulting in an overall improvement in the well-being of the community.

The Water for Life project is currently taking place in Siem Reap, Cambodia in partnership with Water for Cambodia and the Ngee Ann Foundation. Join us as a Singapore International Volunteer and do your part to restore lives through clean water. We need a minimum of five persons and a maximum of 10 for each volunteer trip.

As a volunteer, you will play a key role in helping us provide clean water to rural communities through the following activities:
  • Assembling, building and installing bio-sand filters in village households
  • Conducting basic hygiene training, such as hand washing and tooth brushing, in villages and schools.

Our volunteers’ and partners’ well-being and safety are of utmost importance to us. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep you updated. Please drop us a note at citizenambassador@sif.org.sg if you have any questions, or would like to register your interest for future trips.
