Singapore International Volunteers

Since 1991, the Singapore International Volunteers programme has supported more than 1,600 Singaporeans who have volunteered overseas. Today, the SIV corps continues to work with communities to create positive change that is sustained, even after they leave.

SIV Celia Tan on “A Singaporean Abroad”

Singapore International Volunteer Celia Tan was featured on Channel NewsAsia’s “A Singaporean Abroad” documentary series, which aired on Dec 17 2013. The episode showcased her longstanding efforts to raise the profile and standards of the physiotherapy profession in Cambodia through the SIF’s Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Project in Phnom Penh. The project seeks to build the capacity of a core group of orthopaedic doctors, nurses and physiotherapists to more effectively diagnose and treat patients, as well as train their local counterparts in improved techniques. In recognition of her over ten years of volunteering with the SIF, Celia was awarded the Award of Appreciation from SIF Patron President Tony Tan at the 2013 Partner Appreciation Dinner. Congratulations Celia!
